UPCYCLING & SUSTAINABILITY : MANIFESTO SYMBOLS

Everything starts by cleaning your room.

MYAR's aim is to have zero production of raw materials, production of raw materials, but rather create an upgrading on what has been left behind: military used garments, used garments, deadstock of fabric and trimmings. Under the radar of sustainability we took an upcycling approach to all our creations using (evidenced by material certifications, responsible standard on dyeing, printing and sewing).

To express attention to environmental we comunicate with symbols variants as: REDUCE_UPCYCLE_REUSE_CIRCULAR

RE_USE

These used military garments have lived a long life, coming from different decades (50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and 2000). There are many of these garments sitting in piles in warehouses around the world Instead of sending it to land ll, why not give it a second life? With MYAR our approach is to re_purposing these garments under the umbrella of upcycling giving them a contemporary twist from a military past used to a civil future use.

When you buy one of this clothing you are approaching a RE_USE mentality that contribute to a sustainable education which goes in favor to the health of our planet with no over productions, reducing carbon emission, no raw material produced and no waste burned.
MYAR a modern view of the past.

RE_DUCE

Reducing fashion consumption is perhaps the single, most important message the industry and the public can and should take heed of, which in turn means creating new systems which promote other values than monetary gain and capitalism.

The majority of the world’s fashion labels and manufacturers are banding together with governments to reduce carbon emissions, energy usage, water consumption, waste outage, and their overall environmental impact.
In our case Reduce means to think carefully before you buy.

UP_CYCLE

Upcycling is a form of recycling where instead of turning waste into new materials, you can take a product that you would otherwise throw away and give it a new use in life, commonly mention as a second life. With upcycling you can use your creativity to update and renew old items.

That’s why we use the claim “a modern view of the past” as old (past) military items get purposed in the present time with a modern touch from its original state, into “new” garments ready to be worn in the future for a second life.
In this way, thanks to the mix and aggregation of used materials, components and items, the end result is a “new product” with more value than the original value of the sum
of all its components. Upcycling is about materials or items that get to be re-adapted and/or re-purposed in a creative way, and whose lifespan is, therefore, expanded.

CIRCULAR

Circular fashion is a system where our clothing and personal belongings are produced through a more considered model: where the production of an item and the end of its life are equally as important. This system considers materials and production thoughtfully, emphasising the value of utilising a product right to the end, then going one step further and repurposing it into something else.

The life cycle of our possessions becomes longer giving more space to exist without being thrown away in land ll.

Essentially you become more responsible for what you own rather then the idea of what you temporary have.
